One rule of thumb stands the test of time: large room = large tile. With the use of lippage control system, no tile is too large and you can literally roll a marble from one end of this hallway to the other....and notice zero bounce. Many steps involved in getting a beautiful finished floor especially with large format tiles. In this home we used a dustless diamond sander to refinish the substrate before adding the uncoupling membrane. Premium setting materials, such as Schluter All-set is required for setting large format tiles. When properly installed onto a properly prepared surface, tiled floors last a lifetime.
