A co-worker recommended Fun and Function Renovations for two bathroom renovations in my 25-year old home. My entire experience with Pete and his helper was exceptional. Pete is very professional, capable, a perfectionist and reliable. He showed up on time, cleaned up the work site at the end of each day, and the renovation was on budget. Earlier this year I hired Pete and Mark to re-do our ensuite bathroom. Both men were on time, kept the room tidy and did an excellent job. Pete is an honest person with a good sense of humor and Mark is kind and thoughtful. He and Mark are now doing the countertop, backsplash and sink replacement in our kitchen. Though the job is actually due to start in late November, because they have a spare day here and there, they've already taken out the countertop and brought it to the granite store for measurement and replacement. As well they've ripped out the backsplash and will drywall it shortly. This is great to have the job begun early rather than later. I know I can always rely on Fun and Function to get the job well done! I am a well satisfied Calgary Customer.
I had a bathroom renovated with Pete and Mark and it was a great experience. They were tidy, on time, and very particular. The workmanship was great and I would hire them again in a second.
We had Pete and Mark do our bathroom renovation in December, and we were so pleased that we had them do our kitchen floor and backsplash. Pete and crew did an outstanding job on our upstairs bathroom tile surround and basement bathroom which was completely re-done. He kept us well informed about the progress as well as any hick-ups that needed attending to along the way, which we were prepared for, living in such an old house. Pete provided an on the spot quote for the bathroom renovation work I required and contacted me with a realistic time frame in which he could deliver the completed renovation. We have had Pete of Fun & Function Renovations work at our house a few times in the past 4 years. We recently had a lot of work done in our house by Pete and his team. Some of the things they did was renovate 3 bathrooms top to bottom, install interior and exterior doors, install windows and trim, install new closet doors and baseboards, install hardwood and slate flooring, the list goes on. His tile work is top notch and in-floor heating in our ensuite is deluxe! The original job we hired them to do was a lot smaller when we started out, but we kept adding to the list. In the end we had a very tight timeline to get things finished (had a baby on the way) and Pete and his team worked very hard to make sure everything was completed in time. It can be intrusive to have someone working in your home, but they were always very respectful of our family's schedule and they always cleaned up at the end of the day. I would recommend their services to anyone who wants a Calgary renovation contractor who really cares about his clients and the finished product. Fun and Function just gutted and "redid" our main bathroom and it is absolutely beautiful......In part due to design recommendations made by Pete. Ours is an old house so we were aware that we might find some interesting things behind the walls and beneath the floors. Fortunately there weren't too many deviations, but it's something to keep in mind and be ready for. We ran into a couple of such situations and Pete was excellent in always finding a solution by working around or dealing with the unanticipated challenge. Our new bathroom has exceeded our expectations and we would not hesitate to recommend Pete and his man Mark.
The fireplace looks fantastic (so does the rest of the tiling as well).

A couple of months ago we decided that we just couldn't live with our small, dingy bathroom and wanted a change. We came up with a plan (well, let's just say a simple drawing on a napkin!) and proceeded to shop around for a contractor. Pete was one of three that quoted on the bathroom (and we didn't have to wait around for days either - he came over to the house and wrote out an estimate on the spot). He came in with a very fair price, and explained all of the ins and outs to us at the first meeting, including what we would need to provide in terms of materials, and what he would provide for us. We felt such confidence in him from the start that we chose him to take on this renovation.
The job ended up being quite a bit more work than was initially planned due to poor workmanship on the existing plumbing. Pete explained to us what was needed in terms of time and money, and went right to work fixing the problem. Even with this two day delay they finished the job on time, and on budget. Very impressive!
Pete and his crew were punctual, friendly and non-intrusive (and they cleaned up the mess at the end of each working day - a real plus!). We had complete confidence in them from the start, and that confidence was never shaken. They knew their stuff - plumbing, electrical, framing, dry walling, painting and, most importantly, artistic tiling!
We've been having wonderful steams now for a month and I can't tell you how happy we are! We would recommend Fun and Function Renovations in a second for ANY renovation!
I have done a few home projects with contractors in the past and the biggest problem is to find a person who truly takes pride in the quality of work which they perform. I had Pete and Natalie come out to do my bathroom which needed much work. They came with a timeline in mind and not only was the project completed on time, they suggested to tile the face and sides of the old fireplace in my living room. The tilework was second to none and transformed an eyesore into a piece of art! The bathroom was taken down to the bare studs and all the drywall removed. I was expecting to be living in a "war zone" until the job was completed.. they cleaned as they went along which made the house livable during the renovation. I would not hesitate to use the services of Fun and Function again and will proudly refer them to my friends and family. Good Work!
